State Representative Tom Saunders joins us for our annual Statehouse update.
He introduced five bills this year, we discuss each of them. Ranging from a bil that would require governments to offer owned parcels to adjoining residents. A bill that would eliminate straight ticket voting in Indiana (Only 8 states still have it). And a bill that would affect the who can serve on local planning commissions.
Tom also serves on the Roads and Transportation committee. There is a bill moving through the statehouse that will eliminate all handheld devices starting July 1st. No more texting, talking on handset, using apps, or websites while driving. There is also a possibility of cameras being installed in construction zones to enforce existing laws.
We also dig into the results of the #RedForEd rally and what steps have been taken to respond to their requests.
Finally, Indiana second amendment groups have been getting traction following Senator Greg Taylor’s filing of a bill restricting gun sales to those 21 and over, limiting magazines to 10 rounds, and banning bump stops.
